Waking up at 3:30am is no fun hehehe the fact that it was in NYC --- well a little more bearable !
Busy day ahead, after breakfast we headed to the ferry and across the river we headed to, first stop : The Empire State Building. Took the elevator up to the 102nd floor to the closed viewing deck and then back down again to the open deck (86th floor). Although the 86th floor should have given us better photos being open, it was just honestly too crowded. And that was before 10am ! The plan had been to go to Rockerfeller Center thereafter but the girls had grown tired of just looking at the view. As awesome as the views were from TESB, they had had enough so we headed to Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, Times Square. After this it was a quick stop for our first MacDonalds in the USA :) for a bite to eat. The taxi ride to Pier 17 for our Clipper Cruise gave the girls just enough time to catch 40 winks. Our cruise on The Clipper City took us from the Brooklyn Bridge along Manhattan island almost as far (within view) as The Statue of Liberty. The 90minute cruise was excellent, girls had a ball and Andre got the opportunity view some of the aerial acrobatics taking place for the Red Bull Air Race being hosted in New York this weekend. Special treat after this was a stop at The Bodies Exhibition. This was not on the cards as the girls had been VERY reluctant to visit - "it'll creep me out" ! Was a very educational experience and we didn't dwell on the fact that everything in the exhibit was 'real' and some stage ;)
(Aimee and Lucy's reviews to follow)
Photos of the day -- if you can correctly identify the Madame Tussaud's wax figures give yourself a pat on the back ;) some were really realistic while others were less than convincing.
Morning breakfast view, ferry ride and 42nd street ...
