Happy Anniversary My Darling xxx

It was 27 January 1996 that André and Tracy stood in front of friends and family at Christ Church, Pinetown and promised to love, honor, cherish and keep .... notice there was no OBEY in there hehehe
And today eleven years later, happy to say we're still quite prepared to stand before family and friends and make those same promises. - I think hehehehe

Each year has brought its own issues, some good, some great, some pretty darn awful !
But André, thankyou for them all, I love you and plan to stay by your side forever and always.

People come into your life for a reason !

Received an email today from a very special - even if I haven't seen and caught up with her in years - friend. To save me emailing this back to you Tania, and to a million other friends ....

Here goes :

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it, it is real. But only for a season !

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

Genetics explained by Lucy ....

Heading to Bahrain today for rugby, Lucy sitting behind Tracy and Aimee sitting behind André. Aimee suggested they switch. (big thing about who sees who in the diagonal seating position)
Aimee pipes up "Yay, so I can see Daddy, because I am Daddy's child !"
Lucy immedately screechs "NOOOOOOOO, I am !"
Aimee then asks "Daddy, which of us is your child ?"
You know when one parent says to another "Deal with your child !" or " Your child did ....." or "he/she must be your child because ..."

"Aimee you are both my children !" says the father thinking that'll settle the dispute.
"But Daddy which one of us is a Daddy's child ?" maybe she was meaning the expression 'Daddy's girl' ???
So Lucy very seriously states :
"I have the most hair on my arms so I must be Daddy's child !"
Who says a 6 year old can't undertsand genetics !

Doha - Qatar

This last weekend we headed off to Qatar to visit our good friend Larry or as the girls says Uncle Lerry :)
After dinner at Rumors Wednesday night with Jana, Rick, Jen and Shawn and off course the kids , we woke not so early Thursday morning. Packed up the car and headed out. Leaving Saudi, driving through country that looked more like the desert than anywhere we live. It was marvelous to see the herds of camels with their minders close to the Hofuf area.
The weekend, well half day, night and half day was great. We had a look around Doha with Larry, popped in at the rugby club, enjoyed a local souk where the girls got to enjoy a donkey ride and of course André couldn't resist buying a small hanging carpet. At a park Friday morning where we played on a skateboard ramp sans skateboards :) and then the girls even got to try a bit of ice-skating.
We headed back mid afternoon Friday and after a looong unplanned detour - oops - through Hofuf and another non-english-signposted town, we finally arrived back home around 7:30pm.
We'll be heading back begining of February again as André is reffing a ladies rugby tournament there. Of course we're looking forward to spending time with Larry again !

The Desert

Arriving in Doha at Uncle Larry's, Thursday evening.

"from the modern and then back to the old"

The falcon's were awesome, seemed terribly cruel especially some of the injured ones we noticed but these amazing birds are so much of the culture and life here.

Friday
the sliding was a bit of a difficulty for those of us with a weight "advantage" hehehe
