We left home (Rastanura) at 12:25am..... drove across to Bahrain.... flight left a little after 3:50am..... arrived in Dubai 6:30ish and then 8:35am we headed directly to JFK.....
Of course Andre had his boarding pass re-issued in Dubai with a very special SSS printed on it -- secondary security screening :) Flight was long but uneventful and finally we were disembarking in New York ! JFK was BUSY :) We were sent to counter 8 - which according to the episode of Numb3rs I watched on the plane is a very lucky number - if you're Chinese hehehe Turned out to be lucky for us to because by the time we actually got to the front, very pleasant securityofficer stamped the passports, took photos and fingerprints and said "enjoy your stay" --- no SSS :)
Arranged a taxi, waited what felt like forever in the 'heat' outside and then we headed into Friday afternoon traffic - yikes ! Took us almost 90mins to get from JFK to Sheraton Lincoln Harbor, NJ. Dropped the bags and hopped on the ferry to head into NYC. A walk up 42nd Street, heading to Times Square (WOW WOW WOW - quite unreal to actually be here hehehe) and Planet Hollywood to pick up our NewYorkCity Pass cards.
Before we knew it, it was 9pm and sun was just setting - we were absolutely pooped. Walked most of the way back to the ferry station (from 45th to 39th) but got a taxi halfway for the girls - they fell asleep in the car and then again on the ferry :(
FROM LUCY :
On the 18th of June when we got to our hotel we had to wait for housekeeping to bring extra bedding for me and Aimee. Then we took the ferry from Lincoln a to New York. We walked in Times Square and stopped at Planet Hollywood for dinner. Dad bought us light-up milkshake cups.
FROM AIMEE :
On the 18th of June the VERY long plane ride was VERY tiring. I got to watch an awesome movie though ;) Percy Jackson and the Olympians -- VERY cool. On the way to our hotel we saw many sights like the Empire State Building, and the Brooklyn and Queensborough Bridges.
(Aimee didn't finish this write-up last night - we were working on it over dinner last night. As soon as she finishes, we'll edit her section of the post.)
