Eid Mubarak

A nice 9 day holiday to spend time together, Eid Mubarak everyone.
Eid started Thursday 11 October and we spent many a day at the movies (now that we could enjoy popcorn while watching hehehe) so this post will be a bit of a movie review posting.
After each movie we would rate the movie one to five stars and then average the scores out....
Underdog -

Ratatouille -

Nancy Drew -

And then well there were the movies at home (many of which we had seen at the movies previously), some some of the ones watched :
High School Musical 2

Surf's Up -

How to Eat Fried Worms -

Other than the movies, well the adults did have some work to do and whenever possible, the girls enjoyed the trampoline, and then there was always rugby to fall back on heheheh

Happy Birthday Lucy

Lucy turned 7 on October 7, 2007. Except for the October that'd look pretty cool hehehe. We did the present thing before heading out for school and of course because her main present was a trampoline (which her big sister helped us put together the night before), we were very excited to get home and put in some more jumping time :) Does it look like she was excited at her surprise ???? Even Aimee can't help herself and she knew about it hehehe

Her birthday party was scheduled for Thursday October 11, friends from school joined us for some old-fashioned fun. As much as she begged to go to Sparky's (amusement arcade/park) mom and dad held fast and we decided to just stay home. So after mom had gone out the night before with friends (not feeling so great now), she was up early baking and getting all the food ready. We sorted out the activities ..... pass-the-parcel, musical statues, musical cushions and "The Chocolate Game", and of course there were the scooters, balls, jump ropes and the trampoline outside too. A fun morning had by all - especially André in sneaking a choice photo or two :grrr:

please note the very special beanie we had the children use for the game hehehe

oooh and then their was the cupcake decorating too -
think more decoration ended up in mouths than on cakes heheheh

and it this point I am just plain moeg, but ....at least I have the remote control hehehehe
And lest we forget - well we missed the email by a day....a special mention to "The Old Man" in the family hehehehe Happy Birthday Malcolm, hope the 10th was good, and if not.....well there's always next year :) hugs and kisses.
And Uncle Scarbie - hope your birthday was wonderful too, no fair you got to go to Mauritius though :( hope it was good !
And Wade, hope you had a wonderful day too :)

Getting into the spirit of things

The 2007 Rugby World Cup kicked off in France September 7 much to our enjoyment.
September 9, our first game saw me at school for our Annual Open House - never fear though, I went along in my Springbok kit and received score updates from my wonderful husband throughout the evening :)
September 14, our second game of the tournament saw me in a hotel room in Jordan - once again wearing my Springbok kit and getting updates from my wonderful husband :)
September 22, was a tighter game for us and I started thinking "perhaps I should be away every time we play ?"
September 26, Special mention to Alison - hope your day was a great one, sad we couldn't be there to share it with you.
September 30, was fabulous....although I had proudly worn my Springbok kit to school each time we played, the girls and I were delighted to wear our shirts to school the day following this win too !
And then it was the quarters .... we faced Fiji October 7 and in celebration of this win, André decided to attend rugby practice in one of his English jerseys. Now to paint a true picture, the previous practice he had been crunched in a tackle and had been complaining ever since of pain in his side, especially when he lay in a certain way - boys will be boys I guess. So it's October 7, about 8:30, practice should be finishing in about an hour, enough time to get home shower and watch the second quarter at 10pm. No chance André walks in, blood down his face and jersey, and a very primitive effort by a fellow player to bandage his head up - Thankyou. "What happened, I thought this was touch rugby not tackle" I exclaim. We head off to the bathroom to cleanup and disinfect, it doesn't look as bad as when he walked in but basically he knocked heads with .....the coach/player, Tony Mulrain. In case anyone was wondering.... Tony was perfectly fine hehehe. And I thought André had a hard head ! I sent him off to the hospital because it looked like it might need a stitch or two, they said he'd waited too long to come in and just taped it together - do they honestly expect you to be there seconds after ???? Thankfully he got home halfway through the next quarter to see Argentina beat Scotland.
(photos taken after I had cleaned the wound, cleaned the face too before sending him off to the hospital hehehe)

(Next day he kicked his toe on our bathroom scale - looked possibly broken or at least seriously bruised.)
'Tis the season for rugby and it seems 'tis the season for injuries.... in my house at least.

Ramadan Kareem

As I head off to Jordan today - ECPW meeting, I wish you all Ramadan Kareem. Even though we have had terrible dusty/sandy days with almost no chance of sighting the moon, the powers that be have decided Ramadan has started. So its, no eating, drinking, chewing gum, smoking etc. in public for the next month. Consolation is the Eid break at the end I guess =)
Have a good month wherever you are !

p.s. good luck to the Boks for Friday, do us proud boys...as I miss yet another of your RWC games !

These were taken at the airport with André's phone,
now you can see Lucy's fourth tooth is gone too :)
